Sony is slowly increasing its share in the budget
smartphones in the market. The latest Xperia E1 marks its presence in the

Display, Processor and OS
The Sony Xperia E1
features a 4-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen which is protected by scratch
resistant glass, and has a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. The Android v4.3
(Jelly Bean) takes care of the software platform. The phone is powered by a
1.2GHz Qualcomm dual-core processor, accompanied by 512MB of RAM.
Camera, Storage and Multimedia
The handset has a 3MP camera at the
back but lacks a front facing snapper. It supports features like 4X digital
zoom, HDR, white balance presets, face detection, smile detection and
geotagging. The camera can shoot stills up to a maximum resolution of 2,048 x
1,536 pixels and record 720p@30fps videos. The inbuilt storage of 4GB can be
expanded up to 32GB via micro SD card.
Battery and Connectivity
It can be connected to other networks
and gadgets through options like Bluetooth v4.0, GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, 3G, micro
USB 2.0 port and GPS/AGPS. The 1,750mAh Li-ion battery is strong enough to
deliver 9 hours of talktime and 551 hours of standby time in 2G network.
Verdict
The Sony Xperia E1 is an entry level Android phone. It
features a sharp display powered by a decent configuration. Even at just
3-megapixel, the camera clicks good pictures. Except of the lacking front
camera, the device is absolutely a great value for money.
