Gionee has launched P2, a new Android smartphone and the successor of the P1 in India. Gionee's recently unveiled Gionee Gpad G3 sports a large 5.5 inches of FWVGA (480 x 854 pixels resolution) TFT display. The device comes with Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean. Beneath the hood, a 1.2GHz quad-core Mediatek processor runs on 1GB RAM to provide smooth performance. The PowerVR SGX544 GPU is available for running games with ease. Clicking vivid pictures is easy with the 5MP rear camera (with LED flash and autofocus), while the 0.3MP front camera provides self-portrait and video chatting facilities. All these pictures, along with one's favourite multimedia files and documents, can be stored easily on the 4GB internal memory.
In case this isn't enough, micro SD card can be used to expand storage to 32GB. Gionee has provided the device Dual SIM functionality along with 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and microUSB connectivity, while GPS (with A-GPS) takes care of navigation needs. A 2250 mAh Li-ion battery takes care of power needs.
Verdict:
Gionee provides the Gpad G3 with great processing power, which when coupled with camera and connectivity options tend to nullify the disappointment caused by the FWVGA resolution. Otherwise however, the display is decent, and overall the device is a great contender for supremacy among phablets in this price segment.
