Sony Xperia Z1 is an Android-powered smartphone

Sony has just announced the Xperia Z1, the company’s latest flagship phone at the IFA 2013. Visit here for the Sony Xperia Z1 specifications.

Design and Configuration

The eagerly awaited Sony Xperia Z1 aka Honami aka Xperia i1 from Sony comes in an elegant design which retains the Xperia design to some extent while making the device easier to use. What's really stunning however is the screen, which is a huge 5 inches of LCD, having fullHD 1080p pixels resolution and 16M colour depth. If that weren't enough, Sony has brought the Bravia technology, from its TV range of the same name, to this phone, thus guaranteeing viewing pleasure on this new handset.
Yet it's not as if the display can be called the device's USP, for beneath the hood lies a 2200MHz Quad Core Qualcomm Krait processor, set in the MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chipset. With an ample 2GB of RAM, this beast can be expected to race through all tasks that are required of it. Completing this powerhouse is an Adreno 330 GPU for excellent gaming performance.

Camera and Storage

One is equally awe-struck by the Xperia Z1's rear camera, which at 20.7MP is stunning by any standards, and is made more so by the fact that it's a Sony EXMOR RS shooter, with fullHD recording capability. Up front there is a 2MP camera for video calling facility. Storage is not a concern with 16GB of internal space, expandable by another 64GB using microSD card.

Connectivity and Battery

Sony Xperia Z1 comes with all the latest in connectivity options, with 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS (with A-GPS) and microUSB. The Z1 draws power from a 3000mAh Li-ion battery.

Waterproof

Like its predecessor, Sony Xperia Z1 is also a waterproof phone and can survive under 3 feet of water for 30 minutes. Photography under water is a breeze with this device.

Verdict:

Going through the specs of the Sony Xperia Z1, it is easy to understand the hype it generated prior to its launch. Sony combines its expertise in cameras and TVs, to bring Bravia technology to the display and an EXMOR RS to the camera. If the processor and the internal storage are factored in, one gets the best of not only both, but many worlds. If you're seeking the best Sony can give, this device is for you.
