Samsung Galaxy S5 Active rugged variant tipped to launch soon

Samsung has finally announced their next flagship smartphone called "Samsung Galaxy S5 active" officially launched by the South Korean mobile maker. It is a rugged variant of the flagship smartphone and it has been designed to withstand the dust and water to a certain extent. A Samsung Galaxy S5 active specification lets you meet the future in the present. It is the newest addition to the GALAXY series and is purposefully designed for active users who love the outdoors. 

Samsung SM-G870x is the Galaxy S5 Active. It is speculated to be more rugged than the predecessor Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, and may get released alongside the alleged Galaxy S5 Zoom and S5 Mini.
The SM-G870A is expected to be the AT&T variant of the Galaxy S5 Active – according to the FCC, the SM-G870A is 143mm tall and 73.42mm wide, which makes it somewhat larger than the Galaxy S5, though the screen size is the same at 5.1-inch according to import tracking site Zauba. Connectivity features include support for AT&T LTE bands (2, 4 and 17), NFC and dual-band Wi-Fi.

The battery capacity is also supposedly the same as the Galaxy S5′s at 2,800mAh (though one FCC diagram lists it as 1,500 mAh). Like the Galaxy S4 Active, it is possible the Galaxy S5 Active will have lesser features in some regards compared to the S5, like a downgraded camera or an LCD screen instead of AMOLED. No concrete details are available yet on when the SM-G870A will be announced or even if it is the Galaxy S5 Active, but you can expect more info to crop up as the days go by.

Verdict

               In a category dominated by Nokia Lumia devices, this device tries to find a spot for itself. And in many ways, it betters the high end Lumia phones. Like you get a bigger display as compared to the Lumia 920, which is a good thing. The device looks great and would make a great buy if you need a simple to use premium device.

Display and Design 

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Slim sports a TFT capacitive multi touchscreen with a qHD (540 x 960 pixels) resolution, 16M colors, a rich pixel density of 244 ppi and TouchWiz UI. The presence of sensors like proximity, accelerometer and compass provides a better viewing experience. As the name suggests, it is slimmer than its original version, the Samsung Galaxy S3. However, its thickness of 9.7mm is more than many other smartphones of the same size. It carries a weight of 139 grams only. 

Processor and OS 

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Slim has been configured with a 1.2GHz processor built on 4 cores and backed by a RAM of 1GB. It runs the Android v4.2 Jelly Bean OS.

Coming to the camera optics, the smartphone has a 5MP autofocus camera with a resolution of 2,592 x 1,944 pixels and inclusive of features like LED flash and geo-tagging. Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Slim flaunts a large and rich display to offer appreciable visibility but comes in a compact body so that you can hold it comfortably in one hand. It is equally powerful in terms of performance. It would have been better if the phone carried a better front camera in order to justify the high price completely.
