Micromax canvas 5 is an extremely powerful phone at a great value for money

Micromax Canvas 5 is yet to be officially announced. This smartphone will be the successor model of the popular Canvas 4 smartphone launched last year. Earlier it was thought that Micromax would be launching this device with the name Canvas A350 which turned out to be wrong as it was discovered that A350 is the new model called Canvas Knight which will launch in India sometime this month. Display and Configuration

Micromax, known for pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved within a tight budget has now gone a step further with the Canvas 5 A240. The device features a 5 inch full HD SUPER AMOLED display with a crisp 300+ ppi pixel density to bring images and videos to life.

But the real secret is not above, but rather within, as the device packs in an octa core processor by mediatek which is way ahead of almost every other competition phone. To go along with this Micromax has put in a sufficient 2GB of RAM to ensure that the word lag is not in its dictionary. It also has the powerVR series 5XT GPU to ensure high end gaming on the go.

Camera and storage

With a 13MP camera with LED flash and pictures with resolutions of 4128 x 3096, the phone is right up with the big boys. The secondary camera with a 5MP sensor is no slouch either, in fact it may even be better than many smart phone’s primary cameras. It features a Dual video shooting capability in which both the cameras can be simultaneously used. Internal storage is slated at 16GB out of which 13GB will be available to the user, and this can be increased to 64GB by the use of a microSD card.

Connectivity and Battery

The phone is Dual SIM with both capable of supporting HSDPA 3G networks, apart from this the phone has a host of connectivity features such as NFC, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n operating at 2.3GHz, Bluetooth v4.0 with EDS, etc.

To power such a massive phone, a massive battery is required, and hence micromax has fitted it with a 3000 mAH battery which should have enough juice to last for a day.
