Display and design

The Micromax Canvas Beat A114R has a 5-inch qHD, IPS LCD, 16M colors display with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels and sensors like motion sensor, light sensor and accelerometer. With a thickness of 9.7mm, it can be considered as slim compared to devices of the same size.

Processor and OS

It runs the Android v4.2 (Jelly Bean) OS out of the box and runs its functions with the 1.2GHz quad-core Broadcom BCM23550 processor assisted by a 1GB RAM.

Camera and storage

The phablet comes with an 8MP camera featuring flash and autofocus at the back along with a 2MP shooter on the front panel. The rear camera has a resolution of 3,264 x 2,448 pixels and enables you to record HD videos. It has an inbuilt storage capacity of 4GB which is further expandable up to 32GB through a microSD card.

Battery and connectivity

On the connectivity front, the Micromax Canvas Beat A114R has features like Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, GPRS, EDGE, micro-USB port and 3G. The Li-ion battery has a capacity of 1,900mAh and promises to deliver a talk time of 5 hours and a standby time of 150 hours in 2G network.

Verdict

The Micromax Canvas Beat A114R is a reasonably priced phablet which offers a seamless performance, thanks to the Broadcom processor. Packed in a sleek casing, the device doesn't disappoint in terms of looks as well. Absence of HD comes as a disappointment, but shouldn't be a deal breaker considering the price tag.
